History of the poster
Estonian recruitment poster for Waffen-SS. After Estonia had been taken over by Germany, a volunteer corps within the Waffen-SS for Estonian soldiers was created. The corps consisted of approximately 800 men. Later in the war, Estonian men was forcibly enrolled in the Waffen-SS, mainly in the 20th SS Division.
In total, approximately 20,000 Estonians served in the Waffen-SS, another few thousand men served in the Wehrmacht.
