The history of the poster
Arditi Paracadutisti Aeronautica Repubblicana was a unit formed after the Italian capitulation in September 8th 1944 to the allies. It consisted of approx. 4 000 volunteer paratroopers who made the choice to be faithful to their former allies, Germany. It was the "honorable thing to do" as they saw it. They received some training in Germany and bravely fought alongside the German Luftwaffe Fallschirmjägers in Italy. They surrendered in the Alpes in April 1945 with the rest of the Italian republic.
