History of the poster

Italian propaganda poster from the time of the Saló republic, when Italy had been divided into two parts with an allied south and a fascist north. Allied forces advanced slowly north, prevented by the Italian and German forces who made a violent resistance.

To recruit more soldiers, this propganda poster was produced by the artist Giulio Bertoletti. An Italian and a German soldier standing side by side in front of the battlefield, and with serious faces, they point at the reader, asking what exactly he's doing to help in the fighting.

Giulio Bertoletti was with Gino Boccasile one of the most prolific italian artists to produce propaganda posters.
