- Housewives! Save waste fats for explosives!
- American WWII poster
- Year: 1943
- Artist: Walter Richards
The story of this poster
American propaganda print for the "the National wartime nutrition program" from 1943. The poster emphasizes the importance of housekeeping with resources, in this case leftover fats. A nation in wartime cannot afford needless waste.
In the propaganda poster you see a frying pan, pouring out the fat to be likened by the lubricant to an artillery cannon, manned by three American soldiers wearing the early type of US helmet m1934 (inspired by the British helmets).
Fat is an important ingredient in the making of explosives and in wartime no waste could be afforded! Recycle for your country.
