The story of this poster
Danish recruitment poster for Waffen SS. In this poster, Denmarks conquer of the Estonia city of Narva in 1219 is used as an parallel to the raging fighting on the eastern front. Narva was held by the danes from 1219 to 1346, when swedes took over the city. The poster is published in 1944 when the war on the eastern front raged at it's most. The number of danes who volunteered for the Waffen SS at this time was probably very few.
